It’s been quite at this site as I haven’t received any real news that the production of the Toyota Supra will be starting again. I just looked at the official site of Toyota to see if i could find any new information or hints about the Supra but I could not find one word.
The info on the official website is still saying “Thank you for your interest in the legendary Toyota Supra. Unfortunately, production of the Supra was halted in 1999.”
News that there would be a new Supra in 2008 is from more then a year ago and if i look at the sites telling there would be a new model in early 2008 they also have no new evidence. So it almost seems like the dream will not come true and Toyota will be leaving us for a lil while longer without a great new Supra
2008 Toyota Supra Rumours
Rumours are going for quite some time that Toyota is planning a new Supra. The believe is that it will be based upon the concept of the model FT-HS which you can see above. There would be 2 versions. One normal fuel and one hybrid version using the V-6 that is currently also used in the Lexus LS350.
The new Supra would be the answer of Toyota to the Nissan 350Z.
But According to Ed Hellwig from Inside Lane all these rumours are just rumours and there is no indication that Toyota is really planning a ew version of the Supra. We will see what time will bring
The engine is a 3,5 liter V6 which will be responsible to drive the car in 4 seconds to 0 miles an hour. Talking about some serious power here. The engine will be having a Hybrid Synergy Drive©-technology which will make sure the envirment is taking care of while having the ultimate driving experience
